Business challenge
A global building materials company wanted to ensure they have thoroughly addressed all requirements prior to engaging regulatory bodies. As a result, they commissioned research to identify the most common cladding materials in the UK and Republic of Ireland, as well as how the installation had changed between 2006-2019.
Our approach
We conducted 15-minute CATI Interviews with those involved in the installation of cladding:
- N=120
- Across England/Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland
- Respondents were recruited from those in a database of the construction industry
- We spoke to architects, build contractors and project managers
Outcome
Through conducting this research, our client found that the use of cladding varied by market. While timber was used most in all markets, England/Wales saw a greater use of metal and masonry in terms of proportion of projects. The same was true of masonry in Scotland. In ROI and NI flat sheet was used as well as timber, metal, and masonry.
