RTD Alcohol Taste Test

Business challenge

Our client, a soft drinks manufacturer, was launching a new product in collaboration with a whisky manufacturer. They wanted to understand perceptions of this drink vs. what is currently available in the market on a number of key performance indicators. They also wanted to identify if they could make a claim about the drink and what type of claim would be best.

Our approach

Our approach

We conducted a central location test (all known as a hall test), one in the North and one in the South, speaking to a sample of 104 RTD alcohol drinkers.

Respondents were pre-recruited and asked to come to the venue on a particular day/ time. Each respondent tested both drinks (unbranded), the order they tested the drinks in was randomised. Whilst testing the drinks they completed a questionnaire and were asked to give their overall preference.

Outcome

The insight from our study allowed our client to understand how both the drinks (current & new) performed on a number of KPI metrics. We were also able to provide recommendations on the type of claims they could make and which would be most appealing.
